Finding out what they're all about
Helping other people is probably one of my favorite things to do. A calm, gentle pat on the back or a look of admiration fosters a caring environment for the elderly where I work. It is more intriguing when my demeanor is a cheerful one; as I carry on with my night, I see the depressed blossom with a higher sense of self esteem. I test my character to see how humble I might be as I help those with activities of daily living. Passing on their smile is like passing on good karma. Getting paid for it doesn't hurt either =)

Goals
Whether big or small, we all have goals that fit in to our daily lives. They affect our motivation in a positive way, making us more driven, assertive, flexible, and resourceful. Whether your goal pertains to climbing or something small like helping a friend get to work, you feel more motivated to participate because it may be something you feel good about, or something that makes you a better person. Goals and aspirations make us who we are today.
Personally, I have a few climbing goals myself, which some may label as many. What kinds of goals do you have?
Are you thinking about change? If so, what would motivate you more to reach your new goal?

Rocktown Climbing Gym: Update
This is what I have recently heard about MAPS3 and how it affects Rocktown.
News from Rocktown Climbing Gym's Facebook page:
"A number of people have asked, where do we stand on MAPS 3 and how is it going to affect the gym? The honest answer is, we don't know yet. At this point we are working with some key players and hope to have some answers soon.
There are several possible scenarios at this juncture:
1. We could partner-up with one of the MAPS 3 projects, or development/beautification projects, be granted some funds or acquire investors for facility-wide improvements and continue to improve the gym and make it fit in with the new developments.
2. We could continue business as usual and not be affected by the surrounding development or outside factors.
3. Someone already has plans in place or are working on plans without our knowledge or involvement to get rid of the silos for the purposes of "re-development." This of course would be the worst-case scenario and one that we would need to full support of our community in order to prevail."
I sincerely hope that Rocktown still thrives in Oklahoma City. Otherwise I'd jump at the opportunity to open a climbing gym in the greater Oklahoma City area!

Bouldering at Hafer Park
Edmond, Oklahoma
Went around again today, despite my being very much out of shape. Maybe another physical activity binge? The top out wasn't as good as it used to be. Some suggestions:
1. Pay attention to silent feet (or silent feat as i like to say)
2. Use action words to motivate
On topping out:
1. Bring body closer to the wall
2. Pay attention to center of gravity
3. Spring loaded knee and lower leg
I payed more attention to breathing which helped my focus more. Wonder what the next days will bring...
